My name is Linda Steele. I am a fully qualified BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) Accredited Counsellor. I hold a Diploma in Counselling. Details of my qualifications can be verified on the BACP website. I adhere by the BACP’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I also hold a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Psychology BSc (Hons). I have further completed numerous courses, relating to various areas of counselling specialism.
I qualified in 1999 and I began professional counselling work in 2000. I have gained extensive experience working successfully as a counsellor with children, young people and adults from diverse communities, experiencing a wide range of issues. This includes working for a Women’s Counselling Centre, a Community Family Counselling Centre, a National Children’s Charity, a Domestic Violence Agency, a Cancer Charity, a Community Hospice, a NHS Hospital, a National Stillbirth and Neonatal Charity, a Family Support Organisation, Children's Centres and Primary Schools.
I am extensively experienced, a highly qualified, empathic professional, who is committed to undertaking this journey of discovery with you. This is an opportunity, for you to connect with your authentic self.
I offer a sensitive, confidential and professional Counselling Service, within a relaxed and safe environment, where self awareness and positive change can occur. I provide opportunities for you to talk about any issues you may be currently dealing with. This may be a crisis, or something you have been meaning to address for some time. You will be fully supported throughout the therapeutic process.
There are many ways to tell a story. I use integrative therapy, with a focus on Person Centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which allows me to bring together elements of different theories towards a combined approach, whilst tailoring the therapy individually to your needs. This approach provides an unique way of working.
The success of counselling depends on the quality of the relationship between client and therapist. By being warm, receptive, open and non-judgmental, my aim is to provide a supportive environment, in which you can feel safe, able to share your experience, and to trust you will feel heard, with clarity and compassion. I believe that trust is integral in any relationship. I further believe, it is paramount to break through limiting fears, step out of the darkness, and embrace the freedom this brings.
My desire is to help individuals fulfill their potential. Emotional development facilitates a journey of personal growth.
My focus is all about you!
I currently work in a private practice based in Enfield North London. I also undertake consultancy assignments. I remain committed to my own Continued Personal Development (CPD) and growth through regular supervision and additional training.
I have a current Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Certificate (DBS).
